NJ State High School Ski Team
Eastern High School Championships – Athlete Selection & Commitment
The Top 10 Boys and Top 10 Girls in total league points from regular season conference races will be named to the "All-State NJ Boys Ski Team" and "All-State NJ Girls Ski Team." These 20 athletes are invited to join the New Jersey State Ski Team at the prestigious US Ski & Snowboard Eastern High School Championships, a regional event showcasing the top high school ski racers in the Eastern U.S.
This event brings together over 250 athletes from 13 states within the US Ski & Snowboard Eastern Region for three days of championship racing in slalom and giant slalom disciplines. The championships rotate between the Franconia Ski Club and the Mount Washington Valley Ski Club in New Hampshire.

Who Is Eligible
- Athletes must finish the season in the Top 10 for their gender in total NJISRA league points.
- Athletes must be in good standing with NJISRA and their school team.
- Selected racers must confirm their availability and commitment to compete.
US Ski & Snowboard Requirements
All competitors must meet the following USSS guidelines:
Membership
- A valid US Ski & Snowboard Competitor License is required.
- Athletes who do not hold a license must purchase a Non-Scored Athlete Membership at usskiandsnowboard.org.
SafeSport & Background Screening (Age 18+)
Athletes who are 18 or turning 18 before June 30, 2026 must:
- Complete SafeSport Training
- Complete Introduction to Avalanches Training
- Receive a green-light background screening determination within 45 days of turning 18
⚠️ Background checks can take several weeks—plan ahead.
Helmet Requirements
Helmets must meet current FIS certification standards
- Must fully cover the head and ears
- No spoilers, protrusions, or mounted cameras are permitted
- SL helmets may include chin guards and soft ear padding
Commitment & Acceptance
Athletes selected to the NJ State Team must complete a Commitment & Acceptance Form, which must be signed by both the athlete and a parent/guardian.
This form confirms:
- Acceptance of the athlete’s position on the NJ State Team
- Agreement to meet all US Ski & Snowboard eligibility and safety requirements
- Full participation in all events
- Commitment to represent New Jersey with integrity and sportsmanship
The form must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Replacement Policy
If one or more selected athletes decline their invitation:
- Their spot will be offered to the next eligible athlete based on total NJISRA league points.
- After two replacements have been made, the State Team coaches may select additional replacements at their discretion, with league points and season performance considered.
